The 9th Sino US Biomedical Engineering and Biomechanics Academic Symposium at Home and Abroad

The 9th China US Biomedical Engineering and Biomechanics Academic Symposium was held from July 22nd to 26th. The conference is hosted by the Biomechanics Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Mechanics/Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering, jointly organized by the West China School of Basic Medicine and Forensic Medicine, the National Key Laboratory of Oral Disease Prevention and Control (West China School of Stomatology/West China Stomatological Hospital of Sichuan University), and the School of Physical Engineering of Chongqing University. Professor Liu Xiaoheng from Sichuan University, Professor Yang Li from Chongqing University (Chinese side), and Professor Fu Jianping from the University of Michigan (American side) jointly serve as the conference chairs. More than 500 people attended the conference, including 17 professors from American universities such as Columbia University, Pennsylvania State University, University of Michigan, University of California, Los Angeles, and Duke University, 26 professors from domestic research institutions such as Sichuan University, Tsinghua University, and Peking University, as well as experts, scholars, and young students from multiple higher education institutions and research institutes in China. This seminar consists of an opening ceremony, conference report, thematic discussion, and poster display.

Professor Zhao Changsheng, Vice President of Sichuan University, and Professor Fan Yubo, Chairman of the Biomechanics Professional Committee and Beihang University, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. The heads of relevant colleges and departments of the school attended the opening ceremony.

This seminar focused on interdisciplinary innovation and transformation of biomechanics, AI empowerment, and new technologies for cell mechanics characterization for the new medicine and big health. A total of 43 themed invitation presentations and 168 poster displays were held. Experts engaged in lively discussions on cutting-edge biomechanical fields such as cardiovascular and bone biomechanics, molecular and cellular biomechanics, etc. Through cross-border dialogue and collision of ideas, they jointly explored technological innovation paths, strengthened exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and American biomedical engineering scholars, and enhanced the academic and international influence of our university in the fields of biomedical engineering and biomechanics.

Kyle Measurement and Control Technology (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., as a manufacturer of fatigue testing machines, sponsored and participated in this conference, showcasing the biomaterial mechanics testing system developed by Kyle Measurement and Control over the years, which helps to transform scientific research achievements.

During the conference, a Youth Scholar (PI) Symposium and International Biomechanics were also heldAt the Youth Forum, young scholars discussed topics such as how to choose research directions and how to move towards scientific independence. Domestic and foreign experts had good interactions and exchanges with young scholars.
