Warm Celebration of the Third Infrastructure ConferenceThe Intelligent Non Destructive Testing Conference has come to a successful conclusion!

On August 22, 2025, the 3rd Infrastructure Intelligent Non destructive Testing Seminar with the theme of "Empowering Intelligent Inspection and Building Safe Infrastructure Together" was successfully concluded in Chongqing.

The conference was hosted by the State Key Laboratory of Bridge and Tunnel Engineering in Mountain Areas, undertaken by the School of Civil Engineering of Chongqing Jiaotong University, the School of Civil and Traffic Engineering of Guangzhou University, and the National Key Laboratory of Fine Blasting, and co organized by Proceq (Patrol Eagle Intelligent Inspection) and Hunan Wangxuan. And received sponsorship support from Zhejiang Jiou, Chongqing Ruicong Instrument, and Jiangsu Donghua Testing.

The opening ceremony of the conference was delivered by Vice President Zheng Dan of Chongqing Jiaotong University and Dr. Koichi Oba, CEO of Proceq.

Academic exchange continues to rise in popularity

21 expert reports covering multiple fields such as bridges, tunnels, and highways showcased the latest breakthroughs in intelligent detection technology. The attendees highly agree with the content and process arrangement of the conference (survey results show that 98% of attendees are very satisfied with the overall experience of the conference, and the remaining 2% are satisfied).

35 student posters have become a showcase for the innovative power of young scholars. Wu Yujie, a student representative from Chongqing Jiaotong University and a participant in the conference, expressed her gratitude to the organizing committee for building a communication platform that allows our achievements to be seen by more peers and receive feedback and guidance from experts and teachers from multiple universities. This has greatly inspired my research ideas.

Roundtable discussion, deep integration of industry, academia, research and application

The newly established "Roundtable Discussion on Intelligent Non destructive Testing Technology for Transportation Facilities" at the conference has become a highlight. The discussion was chaired by Professor Lin Shiyan, Director of the Blasting Safety Research Institute of the National Key Laboratory of Fine Blasting at Jianghan University. Professor Xie Xiongyao from the School of Civil Engineering at Tongji University, Professor Chen Jun, Vice Dean of the School of Transportation Science and Engineering at Beihang University, Dr. Liu Shuya, Senior Supervisor of Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd., Dr. Li Pengfei, Associate Researcher at the Highway Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, and Dr. Xu Xiang, Sales Director of Proceq China, were invited to engage in in-depth dialogue on two major topics: "Pain Points and Breakthrough Paths of Non destructive Testing Technology" and "Deep Integration Practice of Big Data, Big Models, and Artificial Intelligence".

The atmosphere at the discussion site was lively, and participants unanimously called for extending the duration of the roundtable session next year and increasing the frequency of interaction between the audience and the stage. Some guests also proposed specific suggestions: the discussion topics can be displayed on the public screen in advance, making it easier for participants to focus on the issues and prepare targeted questions in advance.

Ground penetrating radar data post-processing seminar: Dr. Dean Goodman personally teaches practical skills

On the afternoon of the second day of the conference, we invited Dr. Dean Goodman, founder of the ground penetrating radar post-processing software GPR-SLICE, to share with you:

  • Post processing of road void data and 3D visualization inversion;

  • Post processing and multidimensional slicing analysis of municipal pipeline and disease data;

  • Post processing of deformation and related disease data of steel mesh in power wells, and post-processing of full resolution radar image data of highway cracks;

  • And GPR-SLICE automated batch processing.

Dr. Dean used the GPR SLICE algorithm to convert various types of radar data into visual results, greatly solving the problem of data readability.
