The main requirements for quickly closing the baffle are quick response and reliability in the event of air influx. The loss of ultra-high vacuum or high vacuum environment caused by the influx of air (especially large-scale losses such as accelerators or storage rings) may cause serious problems such as pollution and component damage, and require efforts to restore the required vacuum level.
The 77.3 ultra-high vacuum quick closing baffle has a rapid closing reaction when the pressure rises, which can protect the vacuum level. This series can quickly shut down the vacuum line within 10 milliseconds (depending on the diameter of the baffle). Closing the baffle will almost immediately reduce the influx of air to the mbar l/s level. This leaves time for starting the all metal valve, which is used for sealing residual leaks. Preventing damage is a matter of time, therefore, the 77.3 series sets standards for system protection.
The 77.3 series is designed as a slotted baffle valve (DN 40-160), but the DN 40 version has a circular opening instead of a slotted opening. This series is pneumatic driven. The standard baking temperature for valve bodies is up to 300 ℃, and for drivers it is up to 50 ℃. The valve cover is sealed with metal, and the feedthrough is sealed with welded metal bellows.
The quick closing gate is controlled by an independent controller. The controller ensures rapid shutdown by regularly checking the system's readiness status, sensors, and their connections. The controller adopts modular design and can be configured for different baffle/sensor arrangements. When air influx is detected, the controller will activate, and the quick closing baffle will also activate. This is an all metal valve that seals under ultra-high vacuum or high vacuum conditions. The status of quickly closing the baffle is also provided through this controller for remote output. Similarly, the baffle can also be remotely controlled through the interface of the controller.
It has been proven that the 77.3 ultra-high vacuum quick closing baffle series can provide reliable performance in accelerators and storage ring facilities under various process conditions, becoming the standard for reliable protection of ultra-high vacuum and high vacuum systems.
The valve body material of the 77.3 ultra-high vacuum quick closing baffle is stainless steel. The standard flange connector is CF-F. Customers specify flange and specific slot sizes to choose from.
The radiation resistance of this series of valve bodies is 108Gy, The radiation resistance of the pneumatic drive is 104Gy。
The standard time before maintenance for the rotating baffle is 2000 switches, and for the slot baffle it is 5000 switches, which means that this valve series is actually maintenance free when used for its purpose. 77.3 Ultra high vacuum quick closing baffle is usually used in combination with all metal valves.
