Electric proportional valves control gas pressure through electrical signals, which can achieve continuous and stepless adjustment of gas pressure, remote control, and program control. They are particularly suitable for situations where continuous or stepless adjustment of gas pressure is required. The SMC ITV series electrical proportional valves have the following characteristics:
Control air pressure proportionally and continuously through electrical signals.
Sensitivity: 0.2kPa (100kPa specification).
Linear type: within ± 1% (F.S.).
Delay: within 0.5% (F.S.).

The operating principle of the electrical proportional valve is that as the input signal increases, the electromagnetic pilot valve 1 for gas supply changes direction, while the exhaust pilot valve 7 is in the reset state. The gas supply pressure enters the pilot chamber 5 through valve 1 from the SUP port, and the pilot chamber pressure rises. The gas pressure acts on the top of diaphragm 2, and the gas supply valve core 4 connected to diaphragm 2 opens, while the exhaust valve core 3 closes, generating output pressure. This output pressure is fed back to the control circuit 8 through sensor 6. Here, it is quickly compared and corrected with the target value until the output pressure is proportional to the input electrical signal, thereby obtaining a proportional change in output pressure and input electrical signal. Due to the absence of a nozzle baffle mechanism, the valve is insensitive to magazines and has high reliability.
Only one of the analog output and switch output can be selected for monitoring output. Only one of the current type (4-20mA) and voltage type (1-5V) can be selected for analog output. Only one PNP or NPN type can be selected for the switch output. The preset input form does not have monitoring output.

1) Before the SMC ITV electrical proportional valve, a filtration accuracy of less than 5 μ m and an oil mist separator should be installed to ensure that the air source treatment system meets the requirements of the SMC compressed air purification system series ④. Clean and dry compressed air should be provided to the ITV proportional valve to achieve various characteristics that the ITV electrical proportional valve should have.
2) Oil mist devices must not be installed before SMC ITV electrical proportional valves.
3) The SMC ITV electrical proportional valve cuts off the power supply in a pressurized state, and the outlet side pressure can be temporarily maintained, but it cannot be maintained indefinitely.
4) The SMC ITV electrical proportional valve is in control mode. Due to power outages or other power losses, the outlet side pressure can be maintained once. In addition, when the outlet side is opened to the atmosphere, the pressure will continuously decrease until atmospheric pressure is reached.
5) After the SMC ITV electrical proportional valve is powered on, if the supply pressure is cut off, the solenoid valve will still operate, producing a buzzing sound and reducing its lifespan. Therefore, when cutting off the gas source, it is necessary to cut off the power supply.
6) There will be residual pressure below 0.005MPa on the outlet side of SMC ITV2000/ITV3000 electrical proportional valve. To reduce it to 0, a three-way valve should be installed at the outlet to discharge the residual pressure.
