The working principle of a micro bridge gas mass flow sensor is heat transfer. The gas mass flow rate is guided through the surface of the sensing element. The output voltage is directly proportional to the mass of air or other gases flowing through the inlet and outlet of the package. The specially designed casing precisely guides and controls the airflow through the microstructure sensing element. The mechanical design of the packaging allows for easy installation on printed circuit boards.
The micro bridge gas mass flow sensor contains a silicon chip based on microstructure technology. The chip adopts a thin film and adiabatic bridge structure, containing a heater and temperature sensing element. The bridge structure can quickly and sensitively respond to the airflow of air or other gases flowing through the chip. The dual sensing elements on both sides of the central heating element can also indicate the direction and speed of airflow. The thick film and thin film resistors corrected by laser ensure consistent interchangeability between each sensor at all times.
The micro bridge gas mass flow sensor utilizes a thermal resistance wrapped in a silicon nitride film. These resistors are in a suspended state, forming two bridges above the etching chamber of the silicon wafer. The chip is placed in a precise specification airflow channel, providing repeatable flow response. By etching a cavity under the flow sensing bridge, efficient thermal isolation can be achieved between the heater and sensing resistor. The small size and thermal isolation function of the micro bridge gas mass flow sensor enable rapid response and high sensitivity to gas flow.
Wheatstone dual bridge control airflow measurement - one providing closed-loop heater control, and the other containing dual sensing elements. The heater circuit reduces the output variation caused by environmental temperature changes by providing an output proportional to the mass flow rate. This circuit can maintain the temperature of the heater at a constant temperature difference above the ambient temperature (160 ° C), which is measured by the thermal resistance on the chip. The output of the sensor is proportional to the power supply voltage and also corresponds to the differential voltage of the Wheatstone bridge circuit.

Reduce the impact of dust pollution that may occur in certain applications. Through design, dust particles that may exist in the airflow will flow parallel to the surface of the chip. In addition, the thermal migration effect generated by microstructured chips can remove micrometer sized dust particles on the bridge structure.
A simple filter can be used to prevent dust from adhering to the edges of the chip and the surface of the channel. In most applications, sufficient filtering effect can be achieved by connecting a disposable five micron filter screen in series on the upstream side of the airflow device.
Attention: Product damage
The AWM series micro bridge gas mass flow sensor is not suitable for measuring liquid flow, as liquid passing through the sensor can damage the sensor.
