The role of each component in drug delivery

1. 8-arm PEG skeleton

Eight arm star shaped polyethylene glycol, as a polymer carrier, has excellent water solubility, biocompatibility, and low immunogenicity, which can effectively prolong the in vivo circulation time of drugs and reduce non-specific clearance. The multi arm structure provides multiple reaction sites, which is conducive to high-density drug loading or the construction of multifunctional composite systems, such as targeted, hydrogel or nano delivery platforms.

2. 7-arm carboxyl group (- COOH × 7)

Carboxyl groups can interact with amino groups on drugs or modified molecules(NH ₂ forms stable covalent bonds through amide bonds and is used for loading multi drug molecules or functional groups. This multi site modification ability helps to construct collaborative therapeutic systems, or to simultaneously introduce drugs, hydrophilic protective layers, and targeted molecules on the same platform.

3. One arm alkynyl group (- C ≡ CH × 1)
