1. Molecular Overview

(Mal) ₇ -8ARM-PEG Biotin is a functionalized polyethylene glycol derivative with a multi arm star structure. This molecule is composed of an eight armed PEG backbone, with seven arm ends modified with maleimide groups and the other arm containing biotin. This asymmetric end functional design enables it to simultaneously perform multi-point coupling and specific biometric recognition.

2. Reaction activity and functional characteristics

Maleimide groups have high selectivity and rapid reactivity towards thiol groups (- SH), making them suitable for covalent bonding with proteins, peptides, or small molecules containing cysteine.

Biotin groups can form non covalent bonds with Streptavidin or Avidin for molecular recognition, separation and purification, or targeted labeling.

3. Application advantages

The combination of multi-point crosslinking and single point targeting is suitable for constructing multifunctional biomaterials.

The PEG backbone endows it with good water solubility, biocompatibility, and low immunogenicity, making it suitable for both in vivo and in vitro environments.
