Product Description:

Cylindrospermopsin (CYN) is a blue-green algae toxin associated with poisoning events. CRM-CYN is a certified instrument calibration solution designed to assist analysts in determining CYN. Each ampoule contains approximately 0.5 mL of CYN solution dissolved in filtered deionized water, with a concentration suitable for calibration and recovery of control samples in liquid chromatography experiments.

Storage instructions:

To ensure the long-term stability of CRM-CYN, unopened ampoules should be stored in a refrigerator at approximately+4 ℃ away from light. It has been found that toxins are stable under these conditions. When the solution is stored in a reliable non defrosting freezer (preferably ≤ -20 ℃), the solution is also stable. CRM is prepared under conditions that minimize bacterial contamination, but it is recommended to store aliquots and dilutions of CRM frozen (≤ -20 ℃).

Preparation of CRM-CYN:

The starting material is a large-scale laboratory culture of the algae Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii [2,3]. Extract CYN, purify it by preparative chromatography [4], dry it under vacuum, and dissolve it in deionized water to obtain a stock solution. The CRM-CYN solution was prepared in deionized water that had been filtered (0.2 μ m) and degassed, and distributed into amber ampoules pre filled with argon gas, followed by immediate flame sealing. Each ampoule contains approximately 0.5 milliliters of solution.
