IncOders consists of two main parts: a stator and a rotor, each shaped like a flat ring. Large caliber can easily pass through shafts to accommodate slip rings, optical fibers, pipelines, or cables. The stator is powered, while the rotor is passive. The stator contains electrons to receive power and generate an output signal. The stator output signal represents the true angular position of the rotor relative to the stator without requiring any movement.
The IncOders induction angle encoder does not require a matching or special connector, and the rotor and stator can be easily screwed onto the host product. No precise mechanical installation is required and no bearings are needed. Optical or capacitive angle encoders may be unreliable under harsh conditions, especially when dealing with condensation or dust. ZETTLEX angle encoders are generally not affected by foreign objects and are available in IP67 versions. Unlike capacitive devices, there is no need to ground the rotor or stator. At the same time, the encoder has a sturdy, hard anodized aluminum alloy housing with an overall structure. There is no need to regularly replace, repair, or maintain small or vulnerable parts without contact.
ZETTLEX is a technology company headquartered in Cambridge, UK, founded by sensor engineers from two different worlds. The new generation of ZETTLEX sensors uses a unique, non-contact technology and can be considered as an inductive encoder. The basic physics is similar to a transformer, but using printed circuits instead of the traditional inductive sensor construction. This makes the product compact, accurate, lightweight, and sturdy, but the position sensor has no contact, bearings, no precision components, and no maintenance is required.
