1、 Overview of Water Sinking Tank
The principle of water sedimentation tank is consistent with that of alcohol sedimentation tank, and it is a commonly used process step in the extraction of traditional Chinese medicine. The water settling tank corresponds to the alcohol settling tank. After concentration, traditional Chinese medicine alcohol extract is added to water at room temperature or low temperature for water precipitation. Water serves as a solvent to dissolve the active ingredients in the concentrated solution and as a precipitant to precipitate certain impurities in the alcohol extract. Water sedimentation is a method of removing impurities from an extraction solution using the water precipitation method. It removes impurities, reduces dosage, achieves refinement and is convenient for preparation, so that traditional Chinese patent medicines and simple preparations can be made from original Chinese medicine decoction. A water settling tank is a process of adding 1-4 times the amount of water to the alcohol water extract or concentrated solution of traditional Chinese medicine to be prepared, allowing it to settle and remove any insoluble substances from the solution. After recovering and removing ethanol, it is diluted with water to a specified depth, filtered, and sealed for sterilization. The basic principle is to utilize the property of some active ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine, which are soluble in both ethanol and water, to achieve the goal of refining finished products and improving the quality of formulated products. The principle of adding water for precipitation is to prepare ethanol with a certain concentration of alcohol to remove impurities. In general, when the ethanol depth reaches 50% to 60%, impurities such as starch can be removed; When the ethanol depth reaches 75%, impurities such as proteins, polysaccharides, and inorganic salts can be removed. Thus retaining active ingredients such as alkaloids, glycosides, amino acids, and organic acids that are soluble in both water and alcohol. Therefore, for water extraction, the alcohol precipitation method is used for precipitation, and for alcohol extraction, the water precipitation method is used for precipitation. Therefore, the structure and principle of the alcohol precipitation tank and the water precipitation tank are the same.
2、 Characteristics of water sedimentation tank
The water settling tank is welded with three layers of stainless steel, and the inner liner is made of high-quality stainless steel SUS316L/304. The inner liner is polished to meet the hygiene requirements of food and pharmaceutical industries. The interlayer is made of SUS304 stainless steel and equipped with stainless steel guide plates to facilitate the flow of cooling water. The outer welding is filled with stainless steel and covered with polyurethane insulation, which is beneficial for insulation, prevents rapid heat loss, and is environmentally friendly and energy-saving. The water settling tank has cooling, insulation, and stirring functions. The tank body is designed with process pipe openings such as material inlet, pure water outlet, discharge outlet, sampling outlet, and heat exchange inlet and outlet. The automatic control system for water settling tank design includes process control such as feeding, discharging, temperature control, and stirring, reducing labor intensity and achieving fully automatic control of the settling process. Set the clear liquid outlet, which can adjust the liquid output according to the height of the page. The clear liquid outlet is a liquid outlet tube that is at a certain angle to the cylinder and can rotate 360 °. This tube is equipped with a guide gear, and the rotation direction of the liquid outlet tube is adjusted by the hand wheel outside the tank top to ensure that the clear liquid is basically extracted without causing sediment (including flocculent substances) to be extracted. There are sight glasses and spotlights installed on the top of the tank to inspect the sedimentation and discharge of the liquid inside the tank. Set up a long strip sight glass on the tank wall to facilitate observation of the boundary page between sediment and supernatant, in order to observe the separation of sediment. In order to achieve good separation effect, the bottom of the water settling tank is generally conical with a cone angle of 90 ° to 120 °.
