Thorlabs Polaris ® Low deformation optical adjustment frame

Product Features
Made of stress relieved stainless steel with a matching coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE)
Spring loaded three-point contact plate with markings can fix optical components
The contact structure between the hardened stainless steel ball and the sapphire seat makes it durable and easy to move smoothly
Matching drivers/bodies provide smooth motion adjustment
Extensive testing ensures that the deviation is less than 1 µ rad after temperature cycling (see detailed information)Hot test dataTags)
Passivation of stainless steel surface, very suitable for vacuum and high-power laser cavity applications
Polaris®The low deformation optical adjustment frame can provide long-term alignment stability and minimize the optical surface deformation induced by the adjustment frame. The adjustment frame on this page is designed for Ø 1-inch optical components; Please refer to Table 1.3 for the list of standard Polaris low distortion optical adjustment frames of other sizes.
Fixed optical components
Compared to standard fixed screw or snap ring mounting designs, this optical adjustment bracket features a three-point contact panel for mounting optical components, reducing optical deformation. The fixed spring with markings between the optical element and the snap ring eliminates the bending moment on the optical element and ensures that the force on the optical element remains constant under large temperature changes.

Polaris®Low distortion optical adjustment frame, Ø 1 inch, 2 adjusters
Low deformation adjustment frame, 2 adjusters, for Ø 1-inch optical componentsa
Knob or hexagonal drive design
100 TPI matched driver/body pairs
All stainless steel construction, matched with thermal expansion coefficient
The deviation after temperature cycling is less than 2 µ rad (see)test dataTags)
Detachable knob
These Ø 1-inch Polaris optical adjustment frames with 2 adjusters are similar to the standard 3-adjuster version, except that the third adjuster is replaced with a hardened stainless steel ball. They use integrated matching regulators/body designs for better durability. Two versions of the regulator adjustment frame are available: knob and hexagonal drive. These adjustment frames have undergone extensive testing to ensure high-quality performance.
These Polaris optical adjustment frames with two adjusters are equipped with a marked optical element fixing spring (PolariS-K1WS) and a snap ring (PolariS-SM1RRS40). If replacement is required, these accessories can be purchased separately below.
The knob on the POLARIS-K1F1 100 TPI regulator can be removed; After disassembling the knob, it can be adjusted using HKTS-5/64 hex screws (sold below) or any other 5/64 inch hex wrench. The regulator can be locked using the PolariS-LN1 locking nut or PolariS-LNS1 locking ring (sold separately below). Gently tighten the locking nut or locking ring manually, and fix the beam in the target position by adjusting the hand screw or hex wrench. In addition, a 13 mm hex wrench can be used to tighten the PolariS-LN1 locking nut, which can be usedPOLARIS-T2Tighten the POLARIS-LNS1 locking ring with a wrench (see below for details). For applications that require frequent adjustment of the regulator, simply lightly tighten the locking nut with a torque of approximately 4-8 oz in (0.03-0.06 N · m). For long-term stability, we recommendTW13Pre set torque wrench (sold below) and tighten the locking nut with a torque of 32 oz in.
Use the two # 8 (M4) countersunk holes at the 90 ° position to install the extension rod. The adjustment bracket comes with 8-32 and M4 cap screws. For custom installation configurations, each countersunk hole is equipped with Ø 2 mm locating pins on both sides to set precise positions and installation angles. We recommend using standard DIN 7-m6 positioning pins. For details, please click on the file icon below()To view PDF drawings.
