1、 Product Introduction:
Generally speaking, the silt density index is used to measure the content of particulate pollutants in a sample water. The silt density index has been widely used to determine the content of colloids and particles in purified water systems, especially in RO systems. SDI detection is commonly used to help determine whether the suspended solids content in the feedwater may cause clogging of the microporous filter membrane.

3、 Test steps:

1. Choose a suitable location for installing the instrument for testing. When measuring SDI, the correct flow velocity of the water should be ensured, otherwise the measurement results will be invalid.

2. Prepare a 500ml measuring cup and stopwatch.

3. Connect the installed SDI pollution index analyzer to the water source pipeline to be tested. If the test point is after the preprocessing system, the RO system should operate normally when testing the SDI value, otherwise the test results after * are invalid.

4. At this time, do not place the SDI test filter membrane inside the SDI pollution index measuring instrument. After connection, it is recommended to first open the connection port and release a few liters of water to flush out any impurities that may have accumulated in the connection port or pipeline.

5. Close the valve and use specialized tweezers to remove an SDI test filter membrane (with the bright side facing up). Wet it with sample water and place it flat on the support plate of the membrane replacement filter. Gently press it with an O-ring and manually tighten the fixing bolt on the filter membrane fixture. Only tighten it halfway to release the membrane bubbles later.

6. Open some of the inlet valves, and when the water flows through the SDI instrument, discharge the bubbles in the fixture until water overflows from the edge of the membrane filter. Close the inlet valve and continue tightening the fixing bolts on the fixture to the appropriate level.

7. Open the valve, pull out the pressure regulator sleeve and manually rotate the regulating valve to adjust the pressure on the pressure gauge to 30psi (about 2.07 bar). After the pressure is set, immediately close the valve and then push the pressure regulator sleeve back into the reset position (if the pressure regulation time is too long, it will affect the test results). The determination of SDI value needs to be carried out at a constant pre membrane pressure of 30psi, so the testing pressure must be kept constant during the SDI instrument testing process.

8. Place the measuring cup under the membrane filter, turn on the stopwatch, open the inlet valve, and start timing when water flows out. The later part of this manual is described as "t=0". When the effluent reaches 500ml, record the required time t0=seconds. Meanwhile, continue to release water.

When t=5 minutes, measure the time required to produce 500ml of water and record it as t5=seconds.

10. When t=15 minutes, measure the time required to produce 500ml of water and record it as t15=seconds. The entire testing process ends and SDI values can be calculated.

11. Measure the water temperature, which must remain consistent throughout the entire testing process.

If the test water is seawater or high salt water, please rinse with clean water for 3-5 minutes after the test is completed.

5、 Product maintenance:

*After testing with seawater or high salinity water, rinse the instrument with clean water for 3-5 minutes.

*Regularly clean the filter bracket based on the turbidity of the filtered water.

*Remove the filter bracket from the connected pipe.

*Slide off all the tape from the finger screw nut and remove the filter bracket

*Clean all components with sponge, hot water, and non abrasive cleaning agents.

*Clean the threads, recessed areas, and ports with a brush, and rinse off any loose sediment with clean water.

Attention: Do not use wire brushes and abrasive cleaners to clean the filter housing.

*First rinse all components with hot water, then rinse with pure water.

*Dry all disassembled components.
