SICK Safety Laser Scanner NANS3-CAAZ30AN1It is an electric sensitive protection device (ESPE) that uses an infrared laser beam to scan the surrounding area in two dimensions. The SICK safety laser scanner nanoScan3 series is a space saving safety solution suitable for AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) and AGCs (Automated Guided Transport Vehicles). The safety laser scanner establishes a protected area through an invisible laser beam, which is used to protect hazardous areas and achieve protection of hazardous points, channels, or shelves. Once an object is located in the protected area, the safety laser scanner will report the detection status through signal switching at the safety output terminal. The machine or its control system must perform a safety analysis on the signal (such as through a safety controller or safety relay) and terminate the dangerous state. The safety laser scanner operates based on the principle of time-of-flight measurement. It emits light pulses at uniform and short intervals. When light encounters an object, it will reflect back. The safety laser scanner receives reflected light. The safety laser scanner can calculate the distance to an object by measuring the time difference between the transmission and reception time points (Δ t).


Scanning cycle time and resolution
The time required for a prism to rotate once is the scanning cycle time. The number of light pulses per unit time is constant. Obtain angular resolution from scanning cycle time and the number of light pulses per unit time. In the case where the object resolution has been set, the scanning range depends on the angular resolution. Object resolution (referred to as resolution) indicates at least how large an object should be in order to achieve reliable detection. In addition, the scanning cycle time can also affect the response time. According to the purpose, the resolution in the protected area can be set to different values.

The emitted laser beam will cover a fan-shaped surface, allowing for object recognition within a maximum range of 275 °. The covered fan-shaped area ranges from -47.5 ° to 227.5 °, where 90 ° refers to the axis of the safety laser scanner when viewed from the back to the front. When viewing the safety laser scanner from above, the rotation direction of the mirror and the turned light pulse is counterclockwise.
