MonTech Rapid Plastimeter can measure the plasticity or viscosity of polymers and uncured rubber. Testing is simple and fast. This instrument is typically used in conjunction with the MonTech PO3000 aging furnace for plasticity testing to determine the plasticity retention index (PRI) of the original natural rubber.

The temperature range ranges from 25 ° C to 200 ° C, and can be easily read through freely programmable adjustment conditions and loading times, making it convenient to characterize the flow performance of natural rubber and synthetic rubber under various testing conditions. For certain applications, this method provides a fast and low-cost alternative to Mooney viscosity testing.

This instrument, together with a desktop mechanical volume sample cutter, provides a complete set of tools that can reliably prepare samples with a volume of 0.40cm ³ according to international standards. The instrument comes with a top pressure plate installation cycle with a diameter of 10 millimeters. The attachment provides spare top plates with diameters of 7.3 and 14 millimeters. The pressure plate is easily interchangeable.

Plasticity retention index (PRI)

PRI is a measure of the antioxidant properties of natural rubber raw materials. Evaluate the oxidation effect by measuring aging (P0) and plasticity after 30 minutes of aging in a MonTech aging furnace for plasticity testing at 140 ° C (P30)

Work guidelines

A specially designed parallel plate compresses the sample under set conditions and time. Compress the sample between two circular pressure plates, with the temperature of the two plates typically maintained at 100 ° C. Process the sample at a thickness of 1 millimeter for 15 seconds. Then apply a compressive force of 100 N for 15 seconds. The thickness of the test piece expressed in units of 0.01mm is the plasticity value. In addition to the programs described in the standard, the MonTech RP 3000 can also operate at variable temperatures and loading times. During loading, material flow and plasticity curves can be obtained through the optional MonPlast computer software.

Prepare the sample using a mechanical duplex sample cutter, then place it between two thin sheets of paper defined by international standards, and then place it between pressure plates. Thin paper can prevent materials from adhering to the pressure plate or sliding between the pressure plates.

When the starting lever on the rotating instrument is turned, the instrument automatically tests the program. Then automatically control the conditioning and loading cycle. The reduction in sample thickness and the load applied to the sample are displayed digitally on the PC screen using the optional MonPlast software. After the test, all the results are displayed on the PC screen and automatically stored in the database for future calls or creation of processing reports.
