2. What inspections should be carried out for spray dryer before experiment

Before using the spray dryer, it is necessary to check the state of the machine in all aspects, so as to ensure that faults can be found in case, which is conducive to time troubleshooting maintenance. Moreover, the real-time inspection of various performances of spray dryer will greatly improve the safety performance.
1. Check whether the connection between the bearing and the sealing part of each device of the spray dryer is loose;

2. Check the lubricating oil condition of each mechanical part and whether the valve ports of each water, air and laboratory spray dryer slurry pipe are in the required position;
3. Check if the sealing material is installed at the pipeline connection, and then connect it to ensure that unheated air does not enter the drying chamber;

4. Check if the door and observation window are closed and if there is any air leakage;
5. Check whether the rotating direction of the centrifugal fan of the spray dryer is correct;
6. Check if the regulating butterfly valve at the outlet of the centrifugal fan is open. Do not close the butterfly valve tightly, otherwise it will damage the electric heater and air inlet duct. This must be taken into full attention;
7. Check if the connecting pipeline of the feed pump is properly connected and if the rotation direction of the motor and pump is correct;
8. Check whether the spray head on the top of the drying chamber is properly covered to avoid air leakage;
9. Whether the lubricating oil cooling pipe joint of the atomizer is well connected, and whether the cooling water of the laboratory spray dryer is turned on.
10. Then, turn on the power supply of the spray dryer to check whether the voltage and instrument are normal, and then check the amount and concentration of slurry in the slurry mixing bucket. If any problem occurs, it should be eliminated in time and notified to the manufacturer's technicians for immediate maintenance and repair.


Difference between freeze dryer and spray dryer

There are significant differences between freeze dryer and spray dryer in process principle, application field, drying time, product structure, property and cost. ‌

Process Principle

Freeze dryer: uses physical principles to separate and remove moisture from materials. The process includes three steps: pre cooling, freezing, and dehydration. Pre cooling is the process of lowering the temperature of materials, while freezing is the process of cooling materials below freezing point, causing water to directly transform from solid to gaseous state; Dehydration is the process of evaporating water from materials and extracting it through a vacuum pump.

Spray dryer: It disperses materials into small droplets through mechanical action, contacts with hot air, and the water vaporizes rapidly to obtain dried products. This process is usually carried out at high temperatures, where the material is thoroughly mixed and in contact with hot air to achieve rapid drying
