【 Detection Principle 】
VITEK ® The AST drug susceptibility card of System 2 is based on the MIC method (as reported by Maclowry, Marsh (10), and Gerlach (9))
Automated testing methods. The AST drug susceptibility card is a mini and simplified version of the double microdilution method (1) for determining the minimum inhibitory concentration.
Each AST drug susceptibility card contains a control well containing only microbial culture medium. The remaining micropores contain a predetermined amount of specific culture medium and antibiotics
Su. Before using the test bacterial suspension to hydrate the antibiotic containing culture medium in the drug susceptibility card, dilute the bacterial suspension with 0.45% saline solution to standard concentration
Degree. Fill and seal the drug susceptibility card, then load it onto the instrument incubator for automatic operation (VITEK) ® 2 60 or Vitek ® 2 XL fully automatic micro
Biological analysis system) or manual operation (VITEK 2 Compact fully automatic microbiological analysis system). The instrument monitors every
The growth of bacteria in each well (the longest time for bacteria is 24 hours, and the longest time for yeast is 36 hours). After the incubation period is over, obtain the drug susceptibility card
Provide MIC values (or test results) for each antibacterial agent.

Limitations of Inspection Methods
Usage restrictions
Before reporting the results of the following antibiotic/bacterial combinations, please conduct experiments using alternative methods:
Datumycin: Streptococcus agalactiae
Erythromycin: Streptococcus agalactiae
If positive (+) test results are obtained from the following antibiotic/bacterial combinations, please use other methods for the experiment before reporting:
Screening of cefoxitin: Staphylococcus saprophyticus
For the resistance of the following combinations, the detection ability of the AST detection card cannot be confirmed because no resistant strains were available for comparative testing.
Ampicillin: Streptococcus agalactiae
Benzylpenicillin: Streptococcus agalactiae
Cefurolin: Staphylococcus aureus (including methicillin sensitive and resistant strains)
Linezolid: Enterococcus, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus agalactiae
Tigecycline: Enterococcus, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus
