The insulator ash density tester provides accurate and quantitative ash density data, making the anti pollution flashover work of the power grid more scientific, economical, and effective. Although its operation is more complex than some direct reading instruments, the reliability and irreplaceability of its data make it a standard laboratory equipment for power testing, operation and research departments.
The insulator ash density tester is a specialized instrument used for quantitatively measuring the density of non water soluble ash in surface pollutants of insulators. It measures "grey density" and its standard code is NSDD. Grey density data is a key scientific basis for classifying pollution zones in power systems, determining external insulation creepage distance, and guiding the cleaning and application of anti fouling flash coatings (such as RTV).
Due to the fact that the pollution on the surface of insulators contains both soluble and insoluble components, ash density (NSDD) refers to the ratio of insoluble components in the surface layer pollution of insulators to the surface area. Unlike soluble components in pollution (measured by equivalent salt density ESDD), the relationship between salt density and ash density in pollution degree is dispersed 5-10 times. Insulators with the same equivalent salt density but different ash densities may be at different pollution levels. Therefore, the confirmation of pollution level requires a combination of equivalent salt density and ash density. Only by measuring ash density can the pollution level be accurately determined.
Our company has designed and developed the UHV-565 insulator ash density tester based on the requirements of the power industry for preventing and controlling pollution flashover, combined with the new standards for classifying power grid pollution levels, and according to customer needs. The tester is easy to operate and has complete functions, and has been unanimously recognized by industry customers.

Main application scenarios:
Revision of the distribution map of power grid pollution areas: Regular sampling and testing of insulators on all power lines and substations to provide data support for the classification of pollution areas.
New (modified) line design: Obtain pollution level data of the proposed line corridor to provide a basis for insulator selection (creepage distance).
Operation and maintenance decisions:
Determine whether the insulator needs to be cleaned.
Evaluate the effectiveness and recoating time of anti fouling flash coatings such as RTV.
Analyze the pollution factors of unexplained pollution flashover accidents.
Research and environmental monitoring: studying the impact of air pollution on power facilities.
