This process is initiated by applying a high voltage, which generates an electric field between the droplets of the polymer solution and the collector. Spherical solution droplets elongate due to the accumulation of charges on the droplet surface and form a cone shape with the increase of electrostatic force. Once the force reaches a certain limit and overcomes the surface tension of the droplet, the polymer solution will form a jet that moves towards the collector. During this movement, the solvent evaporates and the dried nanofibers deposit on the collector, forming a static net.


Jingjing provides a direct, simple, and inexpensive process for producing uniform, continuous, and homogeneous nanofibers ranging from submicron diameters to nanometer sizes, as well as many different processing techniques such as stretching, phase separation, template synthesis, and self-assembly. Jingjing also allows the production of nanofibers from various materials (i.e. inorganic and organic) in different components and configurations. The filtration application of Jingjing nanofibers is becoming increasingly popular in the market as consumers seek to combat harmful particulate matter, including viruses. Most modern air filters are composed of silica glass microfibers with static electricity, but the next generation of air filters may include electrospun nanofibers.
