Hydrochloric acid storage tank

The commonly used materials for hydrochloric acid storage tanks currently include fiberglass hydrochloric acid storage tanks, polypropylene hydrochloric acid storage tanks, and steel lined plastic hydrochloric acid storage tanks. Glass fiber reinforced plastic and polypropylene aging quickly under sunlight, so steel lined hydrochloric acid storage tanks are more durable.

Note: Stainless steel tanks are not suitable for storing hydrochloric acid
Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant due to its passivation film and is not resistant to reducing acids. 316L is an austenitic stainless steel that only has a certain degree of corrosion resistance to dilute hydrochloric acid at room temperature, and chloride ion intergranular corrosion may still occur after long-term storage.

Performance of commonly used lining materials for hydrochloric acid storage tanks:

1. Steel lined PE hydrochloric acid storage tank: working temperature<80 ℃, good impact, flowability, and bending elasticity
2. Steel lined PO hydrochloric acid storage tank: working temperature<100 ℃, easy to form, inexpensive, resistant to various concentrations of acid, alkali and salt, anti-static, high strength
3. Steel lined F4 hydrochloric acid storage tank: working temperature<180 ℃, highly corrosion-resistant, heat-resistant, and cold resistant, but with low mechanical properties, poor fluidity, and large thermal expansion

Regarding the leakage of acid mist from the exhaust outlet of hydrochloric acid storage tanks：
Due to the volatility of hydrochloric acid, acid mist often appears at the exhaust outlet of hydrochloric acid storage tanks in cold or rainy weather. Acid mist is also present during normal times, but it cannot be seen. On rainy days, the humidity is high, and the hydrochloric acid gas phase is absorbed by small water droplets in the air to form acid mist. Acid mist contains acidic corrosive media, which can pollute the environment and harm human health. According to environmental regulations, it must be treated to meet emission standards. At present, many companies have not dealt with it and have been directly arranged.

Solution to Acid Mist Leakage from Hydrochloric Acid Storage Tanks：

• Install a breathing valve at the exhaust port of the hydrochloric acid storage tank to prevent backflow.
• The simplest treatment is to use NaOH water as the absorption solution, add an absorption tank at the discharge outlet, absorb it before discharging, and replace the alkaline solution according to the pH value. Especially suitable for small hydrochloric acid storage tanks.
• Add a small spray device to the exhaust port of the hydrochloric acid tank to absorb the volatile hydrogen chloride gas.
• The absorption tower system introduces the volatile hydrogen chloride from the storage tank and loading process into the packed absorption tower, and the absorption liquid returns to the storage tank. It is mainly suitable for large hydrochloric acid storage tanks.
