1. The function of Faraday cup:

  • Capture chargesWhen a charged object is placed in a Faraday cup, the object's charge is transferred to the inner surface of the cup. This effectively isolates the charge from the surrounding environment.

2. The function of nanoculometer:

  • Detecting transferred chargesThe nanoculometer is a highly sensitive instrument specifically designed to measure tiny charges. It is connected to the Faraday cup.

  • Quantify chargeWhen charge is transferred from an object to a Faraday cup, a weak current is generated, which flows through the Faraday cup and enters the nanoculometer. This instrument detects and measures the current.
