Cone measuring instrument for hip joint taper measurement, which accurately measures the taper, straightness, roundness and other parameters of the artificial hip joint cone handle and the inner cone of the ball head. The measurement repeatability can reach 0.2um.

1、 Product Introduction:
In production, we use taper in many places. Why should these dimensions be effectively controlled?
When the taper is controlled within the tolerance range, the taper shank and ball head fit well through the taper surface, which is not easy to cause jamming, loosening, and wear.
The taper is too large, and only a part of the cone handle contacts the inner cone surface of the ball head, even in line contact, which is prone to wear and looseness during use.
The taper becomes smaller, and at this point, the entire taper handle will become smaller, the contact surface will decrease, making it difficult to fit and loosen correctly, and the service life will be low.
Accurate measurement of the taper, straightness, roundness, and other parameters of the artificial hip joint cone handle and ball head inner cone can be achieved through non-standard customized ring plug gauges. The measurement repeatability can reach 0.2um.

Conical measuring head and standard parts, the measuring head adopts * nozzle design and balance processing technology, which can measure accurate dimensional values and ensure the repeatability of measurement data. Standard parts are carefully selected with special processing and heat treatment, coupled with precise grinding, resulting in size and shape errors of<+/-0.13um.
Here, we need to mention that we can manufacture high standard XXX level precision ring gauges and plug gauges in the United States. We have precision gauge block calibrators (with a repeatability error of 0.004 μ m or less), and we have precision inner and outer diameter calibrators (with a repeatability error of 0.02 μ m or less).
Measurement of internal and external conicity
For many years, measuring the cone shape inside and outside has been a major challenge in the metal processing industry. At the same time, taper fitting is widely used in bearing parts, engine parts, machine tool parts, and medical implant parts, often using inner and outer taper for fitting. The traditional functional "dyeing basket" method depends on manual operation, and the results vary depending on the operation. Therefore, Edmunds utilized its rich experience in pneumatic and electric measurement to design an electric or pneumatic taper measuring instrument, replacing the traditional "dyeing basket" method. Edmunds' taper measuring instrument has many advantages: high reliability, high accuracy, and cleanliness. The output digital results can be used for machine tool adjustment and are easy to operate manually.
In industrial mass production, measuring the curvature of slender holes is a difficult point. Edmond uses pneumatic probes to detect straightness, which can be used on processing sites to achieve high accuracy and are easy and fast to operate.

When measuring taper, the parameters we focus on are:
The outer cone of the cone handle;
The inner cone of the ball head;
Ball head diameter;
The straightness and roundness of the inner and outer cones;
By using a pneumatic taper gauge, the taper, straightness, roundness and other parameters of the artificial hip joint cone handle and ball head cone can be accurately measured through non-standard customized ring plug gauges.
The measurement repeatability can reach 0.2um.
Measurement principle: Three sets of six nozzles are distributed with measuring heads (usually only two sets of four nozzles are needed to measure taper separately).
It can measure diameters of Ø A, Ø B, and Ø C. The taper of the tapered hole can be determined by the difference in diameter between Ø A and Ø C, as well as H.
From this taper, we can calculate the theoretical value of Ø B, and compare the theoretical value with the measured actual value to determine whether there is a straightness error (concave or convex) in the taper hole.
The measurement principle of pneumatic ring gauge is basically the same as that of pneumatic plug gauge.
