The BM-600 (formerly 8200) planetary grinder consists of a sun gear and a base for placing grinding bowls. When the sun gear rotates, the grinding tank revolves around the main disc axis while also rotating around its own axis, performing planetary motion, and its rotation direction is opposite to that of the turntable. In planetary motion, the centrifugal force formed by the rotation of the grinding bowl and the main disk acts on the grinding balls and materials inside the grinding bowl. Due to the opposite rotation direction of the grinding bowl and the main disk, the centrifugal force alternates between the same and opposite directions. The result is that the grinding balls rub against the inner wall of one side of the grinding bowl (frictional force crushes the material). When reaching a certain strength, they strongly impact the inner wall of the other side (impact force crushes the material), and the impact force increases through the mutual collision between the grinding balls. The material is crushed, ground, dispersed, or mixed under the strong impact and crushing force. The grinding tank and the sun gear rotate at a speed of 2:1: for each rotation of the sun gear, the grinding tank rotates twice. When the grinding jar moves, the relative centrifugal force is transmitted to the grinding balls, causing them to move in a circular motion towards each other and against the jar wall, thereby grinding the sample. Usually, the grinding tank and grinding ball are made of the same material.

The circular motion is combined with the rotational motion of the sun gear, so the jar looks like a planetary motion when in motion. During each rotation of the jar, the ball collides with the sample and the jar wall, while grinding and mixing the sample. Due to the amplitude and speed of the fixture movement, each ball generates high centrifugal force, sufficient to crush the hardest rocks, minerals, and ceramics.
