The KISTLER charge mode high resonant frequency quartz impact accelerometer 8044 has an adjustable measurement range when used with a laboratory charge amplifier. The 557 or 558 impedance transformers have lower costs and can replace laboratory amplifiers, allowing measurement systems to present traditional voltage mode accelerometers and power/couplers.

The 8044 accelerometer measures mechanical impacts up to 30000g. It adopts a stable quartz element design with a resonant frequency of up to 90kHz, ensuring accurate measurement and the device can withstand high repeated impacts with almost no zero drift. The 8044 accelerometer housing contains a piezoelectric component consisting of a mass block preloaded onto a quartz element stack. According to Newton's law: F=ma, the force acting on the quartz measuring element is proportional to the acceleration. This component can emit a charge signal proportional to force and acceleration. Due to the large preload on the quartz stack, the accelerometer can withstand acceleration in one direction that is greater than the other. But as a result, it cannot withstand acceleration greater than the negative direction specified (force transmitted to the base through the joint). When used with a laboratory charge amplifier, the measurement range of the accelerometer can be adjusted. The 557 or 558 impedance transformers have lower costs and can replace laboratory amplifiers, allowing measurement systems to present traditional voltage mode accelerometers and power/couplers.
