Note: To adapt to various corrosion-resistant conditions, materials such as PE/PO/F4 can be used for the lining of carbon steel storage tanks.

Regarding the use of carbon steel storage tanks for storing concentrated sulfuric acid:

1. At a certain temperature, the corrosion rate of dilute sulfuric acid on carbon steel increases with increasing concentration, and after reaching a certain concentration, the corrosion rate sharply decreases with increasing concentration. For concentrated sulfuric acid with a concentration of over 80% and a temperature below 60 ℃, carbon steel and cast iron have good corrosion resistance, but they are not suitable for flowing sulfuric acid. A flow velocity exceeding 0.67m/s can cause turbulent corrosion, especially at the inlet and outlet positions of pipelines.
2. Concentrated sulfuric acid with a mass fraction greater than 70% can undergo passivation when encountering iron. Concentrated sulfuric acid will oxidize the surface of the steel, forming an oxide layer. Due to the low water content in concentrated sulfuric acid, there are no free ions. The oxide layer will no longer be corroded by oxidation. So it is completely possible to use carbon steel storage tanks, but a certain amount of corrosion allowance should be left.
3. Due to the water absorption of concentrated sulfuric acid, it is important to pay attention to moisture prevention when storing in carbon steel storage tanks. Desiccants can be added to the tank breathing line, and large carbon steel storage tanks can be sealed with nitrogen to isolate water vapor.
