CERI L-column2 ODS chromatographic column
The L-column2 ODS adopts XJ's new sealing technology, and its performance even surpasses that of high-performance L-column ODS. This product is suitable for the analysis of acidic, alkaline, and chelating compounds.
Due to the extremely low adsorption of silanol, the peak shapes of acidic, alkaline, and chelating compounds are sharper.
L-column2 ODS can provide good peak shapes in both acetonitrile/water and methanol/water mobile phases, making it very convenient to use.
Has high durability over a wide range of pH values and temperatures, and is cost-effective.
Through strict quality control measures, the high reproducibility of inter batch analysis has been ensured.
■ Residual silanol group
The level of residual silanol groups was measured by FT-IR spectroscopy.
The spectral regions of C-H and O-H can provide both qualitative identification and quantitative information. FT-IR spectroscopy shows that there are almost no silanol groups on L-column2 ODS. In addition, the spectrum of the O-H region (spectrum on the right) indicates that among all tested chromatographic columns, L-column2 ODS has the lowest residual silanol content.
Low adhesion
Alkaline compounds may exhibit peak tailing due to the adsorption of residual silanol groups. Therefore, acidic mobile phases or mobile phases containing methanol are usually used to suppress adsorption and control peak tailing. When using a neutral mobile phase or a mobile phase containing acetonitrile as an organic solvent, residual silanol groups exhibit inherent activity. Therefore, when analyzing alkaline compounds using chromatography columns with insufficient capping, peak tailing may occur due to adsorption.
L-column2 ODS undergoes fully capped treatment, so it will not adsorb analytes under any mobile phase composition and can provide excellent peak shape. Although almost all C18 chromatography columns exhibit peak tailing when analyzing alkaline compounds using neutral or acetonitrile containing mobile phases, there is no peak tailing observed when analyzing alkaline compounds using L-column2 ODS under these mobile phase conditions. Therefore, it can be applied to a wider range of mobile phase compositions. This is an important point to consider when choosing a chromatographic column.
■ Higher durability
Durability testing was conducted under high temperature conditions that accelerate the degradation of the chromatographic column. The results show that the stability time of L-column2 ODS is long. Although its matrix is silicone, it exhibits good durability even under alkaline conditions due to its dense sealing treatment.
[Accelerated Acid Mobile Phase Life Test]
Under acidic conditions with a pH value below 1, both the capping group and the ODS bonded phase undergo hydrolysis. As the number of ODS groups decreases, the retention time will be shortened. As hydrolysis progresses, the degree of separation will also decrease. L-column2 ODS can resist hydrolysis even under such harsh conditions, thereby maintaining its retention performance and separation over a longer period of use (Figure 8).
[Accelerated alkaline mobile phase life test]
In alkaline mobile phase, the dissolution of the matrix silica gel will be accelerated. Under such conditions, the column efficiency (theoretical number of trays) will suddenly decrease. L-column2 ODS exhibits good durability under high pH conditions (pH 10), thanks to the protection provided by its capping process on the surface of silica gel.
Good reproducibility
Thanks to the sealing technology, it effectively prevents differences between different product batches caused by residual silanol groups. Usually, the reproducibility of retention time of alkaline compounds between different batches of products is poor, but the coefficient of variation of retention time between different batches of L-column2 ODS is less than 1%. Due to strict quality control measures, L-column2 ODS can provide consistent results in HPLC analysis regardless of the product batch.

L-column, L-column2
A chromatographic column developed for the pursuit of convenience and high performance.
L-column and L-column2 are chromatography columns designed for reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). Due to the suppression of secondary interactions with residual silanol groups and metal impurities, separation can be achieved solely through hydrophobic interactions.
Characteristics of L-column
In 1990, a new sealing method using high-temperature silanization technology was invented. The performance of the L-column ODS developed using this method far exceeded that of the existing C18 chromatographic column at that time, becoming the XQ of the new generation of capping methods.
