Purpose:

The coating film formed by various coatings can automatically and continuously display the state of each stage of the drying process in the form of a circular trajectory, and can intuitively analyze and observe the time used in each stage. It is an ideal instrument for coating testing and coating formula research.

Composed of switch (1), outer cover (2), motor (inside the cover), support foot (3), connecting shaft (4), rotating arm (5), marking needle (6), test board (7), and time dial (8).

The principle is: place the instrument on the prepared coating test board, connect the power supply and synchronous motor, and drive the rotating arm (5) equipped with a scratching needle (6) through the connecting shaft (4). (The arm is in a free hanging state) Rotate at a constant speed for one cycle/6 hours, one cycle/12 hours, and one cycle/24 hours, and the marking needle marks a circular trajectory with a diameter of 100mm on the coating film. Due to the gradual drying of the coating over time, the plow marks of the needle on the coating gradually narrow from wide to shallow, and even cannot be traced afterwards, thus showing the entire drying process.

Usage requirements:

1. Test panel: Glass panel (200 * 200 * 23). Or smooth tinplate (200 * 200 * 0.20.3) or agreed upon test plate material.

2. Test environment: According to the requirements of GB172779, the coated test panel should be placed horizontally, avoiding airflow and direct sunlight. The drying test should be conducted at a temperature of 25 ± 1 ° C and a relative humidity of 65 ± 5%, or according to other agreed conditions.

5、 Explanation of dry terms:

1. According to the provisions of GB172879, it is interpreted as: the surface film formation time is the surface drying time. The time for forming a solid coating is the actual drying time.

2. Some advanced industrial countries explain it as:

After the leveling stage is marked with a needle, the surface of the paint film returns to its original state.

After starting to dry and draw with a needle, the surface of the paint film did not return to its original state, and ripples appeared.

After surface drying and needle cutting, there are traces of scratches on the surface of the paint film.

After basic drying and needle cutting, slight scratches can be seen on the surface of the paint film.

*After drying with a needle, there are no scratches on the surface of the paint film.

6、 Instructions for use (refer to the diagram)

1. According to the requirements of GB172779, prepare a coating on the test panel (item 4.1 of this manual).

2. Choose a fine needle based on the drying characteristics of the coating film, and use a fine needle for fast drying paint.

3. Place the instrument as a whole on the test board. Before placement, use your fingers to pull the rotating arm (5) counterclockwise (when viewed from above) to eliminate mechanical clearance.

4. Mark the contact area between the test panel and the scratch needle, turn on the power, press the switch, the indicator light will light up simultaneously, the motor will run, and the test will begin.

5. After the experiment is completed, turn off the power, remove the test board, place the time dial (8) concentric on the test board, and align the 0 point on the dial with the start point of the test on the test board. Explain the terms according to item 5 of this manual. You can determine the time required for each stage of the entire drying process.

7、 Maintenance matters:

1. After use, the needle should be cleaned thoroughly for future use. The whole machine should be returned to the box and placed in a dry place.

2. The rotating arm (5) should swing freely, and the moving parts should be filled with water or engine oil.
