The ORTEC 266 photomultiplier tube base can distribute voltage to almost all 10 level photomultiplier tubes (PMT) that can be plugged into its standard 14 pin tube socket. It provides a capacitive coupled linear output signal from the anode and the tenth doubling electrode, which can be used for timing or linear pulse height analysis systems. This arrangement allows the use of any polarity output without the need for an inverting amplifier. When these outputs are connected through a 50 Ω terminating cable or directly fed into a linear preamplifier (such as the ORTEC 113 scintillation preamplifier), high-quality signals can be maintained. The 113 type output is fed into one of the ORTEC main amplifiers, where it is actively filtered or delay linearly shaped for analysis. The focusing control on the 266 model allows for adjustments to achieve specific PMT performance.
