In response to the growing demand for adverse reaction testing of hip and spinal implants, PROSIM has collaborated with an independent French wear testing laboratory CRITT MDTR to developHip joint and spinal implant wear simulator.Its main purpose is to:

Design and construct a simulator that complies with ISO14242-1 (2012), ISO14242-4 (2018), ISO18192-1 (2011), and ASTM F3047-15

■Can far exceed the loading environment required by ISO for adverse wear tests

■Strictly follow the application of anatomical loading, through the acetabular cup (hip joint)

■Strictly following the application of anatomical movements, providing precise and reproducible micro ectopic state simulation (hip joint) through the femoral head (hip joint)

■All axes of the PROSIM hip and spine wear simulator are driven by mechatronics, combining the motor, driver, and gearbox so that the simulator can closely track complex loading waveforms

■In the past fifteen years, the empirical data generated by our simulator supports the following statement: the wear shape of hip implants tested in the PROSIM hip implant wear simulator accurately reflects the wear degree of implants that have been used by humans for many years

■PROSIM hip and spinal wear simulator can support up to 6 implants for simultaneous testing, as well as load immersion of two implants, accurately simulating the movement and wear of hip joints and spinal intervertebral discs in vivo
