Sensor installation
The Visolid 700 IQ suspended solids sensor adopts scattered light testing technology, which has special requirements for the testing position and electrode installation.
When testing samples with low suspended solids concentration(<2 g/l SiO2 or<1 g/l TSS), the vast majority of infrared light passes through the sample, with only a small amount of light scattered. Therefore, even small changes in the surrounding environment can significantly alter the test values. The light reflected or scattered by the groove wall or pool bottom will also reach the detector, causing the test value to be biased, especially direct sunlight will seriously interfere with the test. However, by correctly installing the sensor, it is possible to avoid stray light interference as much as possible, so choosing the installation method is crucial when testing low turbidity.
There is an arrow mark on the electrode body, and the infrared test beam is emitted from the top of the electrode at a small angle along this surface. When the electrode rotates around the axis, the incident angle of infrared light with the cell wall or bottom will change, which means that the degree of stray light influence will change. It is recommended to rotate the sensor during installation to reduce the influence of stray light.
