VMS 830 is a compact vibration monitoring device used to control independent machines as well as auxiliary units such as fans, pumps, centrifuges, mills, gears, etc; Its normal operation is crucial for important factory equipment or process boundaries. Among other functions, it allows monitoring according to DIN 45665 and DIN ISO 10816 standards.
For this purpose, it utilizes the vibration of important machine components (bearing seat, foundation, housing), which is converted into electrical signals by sturdy and durable accelerometers (piezoelectric accelerometers) or speed sensors with integrated electronic components. When using GSI type isolation units in the measurement circuit, the potential difference (up to 4kVeff) between the front end and the vibration monitor will not have an impact. In this case, the accelerometer (with integrated electronic components) needs to provide a current modulated (µ A/g) output signal (VIBRO-METER). This method allows for a wide range of signal amplitudes and frequencies, as well as signal cables up to 1000 meters in length. For front-end circuit control, the vibration monitor is equipped with a so-called OK system, which is applicable to all mentioned front-end devices.
In explosion-proof areas (starting from Zone 1), use PTB certified accelerometers and speed sensors with isolation units or pressure sealed enclosures as the front end. This vibration monitoring device is also suitable for controlling machines.
In order to evaluate the machine status, the vibration monitor can choose to consider the velocity value after specific machine filtering (high/low-pass combination), or the displacement value after simple integration. A DC signal proportional to the magnitude of vibration can be output as current or voltage.
Two independently adjustable set point switches with optional response delay, capable of issuing "warning" and "alarm" signals through corresponding assigned relay dry contacts (fail safe function).
For on-site installation, the complete signal and evaluation electronic equipment is installed together with the power unit in a steel plate (protection level IP66) or aluminum casing (protection level IP65). The dual channel unit can be installed in a shared housing.
The signal from the velocity sensor CV 2 (mV/mm/s) or the piezoelectric accelerometer CE (mV/g) is converted into a standardized voltage signal (velocity 70.7 mV/mm/s RMS) in the preamplifier. Subsequently, it passes through a high pass/low-pass filter and is amplified in a two-stage broadband amplifier to the level required to adjust the electronic device. The normalized acceleration signal is adjusted in a bandpass (high/low-pass combination) according to the frequency range requirements of a specific machine. Determine which of the two possible units to use for vibration monitoring - velocity or displacement - through the DIL switch.
The DC output signal (voltage or current) obtained after subsequent rectification (true RMS rectifier) is calibrated in RMS units. The DC output signal is applied to two adjustable level detectors. The response delay of the corresponding distribution relay is set to 1, 3, 5, or 10 seconds through the DIL switch. The switching contacts of the distribution relay can activate alarm and trip circuits, responding to the opening or closing of the contacts. The constant excitation or constant non excitation can be selected through the Dil switch.
