The difference between plasma and serum is that serum does not contain fibrinogen, etc. Plasma is the liquid component of blood, in which blood cells are suspended.
The human body contains 2750-3300 milliliters of plasma, accounting for approximately 55% of the total blood volume. Valley Biomedical human AB plasma was collected from healthy male donors at FDA approved facilities located within the United States. These individual facility units are collected and converted into serum, which is then collected, filtered, bottled, and cell cultured for mycoplasma, endotoxin, and sterility testing. Test each individual facility unit using FDA approved methods (HBsAg, HIV-1, HIV-2, HCV, HIV-1 Ag or HIV-1 NAT, ALT, and syphilis) to confirm that all necessary viral markers are negative.
The Valley Biomedical Heat Inactivation Protocol involves raising the temperature of the serum to 56 degrees Celsius and maintaining it for 30 minutes. Some precipitates may be obvious, and if necessary, they can be removed by filtration.
