Product Description

Protein palmitoylation (more precisely, protein S-acylation) refers to the thioesterification of a selected protein cysteine by a fatty acyl moiety, typically a 16 carbon palmitoyl moiety.

The breakthrough in the identification method of palmitoylated proteins is based on the development of two non radioactive methods, click chemistry and acyl biotin exchange. These technologies have paved the way for high-throughput proteomics analysis of mass spectrometry based protein palmitoylation in various cells and tissues.
