Surtronic S100 series

The Surtronic S100 series (S116, S128) is Taylor Hobson's latest compact portable roughness gauge and a replacement for the Surtronic 25. Adopting touch screen technology, the operation is more concise and can display selected measurement parameters and cross-sectional views. Widely used in industries including precision bearings, automotive and aerospace engineering, suitable for processing sites and metrology analysis. It can measure the surface roughness of various machined surfaces, including oil pump nozzles, crankshafts, camshafts, mating surfaces of cylinder blocks and heads, cylinder liners, cylinder holes, piston holes, aircraft engine blades, etc. It can also be applied to PS plate measurement, online detection of machine tool settings and adjustments, and detection of tool wear or looseness during the machining process.


Instrument features

The SURTRONIC S100 series is only palm sized and can be carried to any place where surface roughness needs to be measured. The uniquely designed probe holder can easily ensure stable contact between the probe and the surface of the workpiece being tested. Equipped with a built-in lithium battery, it can measure 2000 times on a single charge and has a standby time of 5000 hours. Multiple probes and accessories can be selected to meet the measurement needs of workpieces of various shapes. The Surtronic S-100 series, a new portable roughness measuring instrument designed and manufactured by Taylor Hopson in the UK, is sturdy, durable, versatile, and has external connectivity, capable of supporting a wide range of surface measurement applications. For ease of use, this new Surtronic S-100 series instrument features a color touch widescreen operation design and highly intuitive proprietary software. Probe (measuring needle, measuring head):

Standard probes are used for general measurements
Small hole probe is used for small hole slots and narrow surfaces
Measurement of O-ring grooves and slots with a depth of 5.5mm using a small groove probe
The right angle probe measures in the direction perpendicular to the travel direction
Groove probe measures the bottom of grooves or steps with depths of 5.7mm and 25mm respectively
Axe shaped probe for measuring sharp edges or fine lines, not suitable for large flat surfaces
Side guide block probe is used to measure curved surfaces such as tooth surfaces
