Purpose:

SFA21/18 and SFA71/18 actuators are used in conjunction with valves V ¼ I46 ¼ and V ¼ S46 ¼, mainly for low-temperature hot water and cooling water control in HVAC systems.

Technical Design/Mechanical Design:

1. Electric actuators require an on/off type controller (thermostat) to control the valve. If the temperature of the medium deviates from the set value, the controller output signal will drive the actuator to open the valve. When the medium temperature reaches the set value, the control signal is cut off and the valve is closed again.

2. The valve is electrically opened by an actuator and closed by spring force.

3. The device integrates a synchronous motor, a gear mechanism, and a reset spring.

4. The motor has overload protection and anti lock function, so it can operate continuously for a long time. The maximum travel is limited by mechanical means. On the contrary, in the closing direction, the gear is designed with a certain amount of over limit allowance. This can protect the gear mechanism from mechanical impact and extend its service life.

5. The standard supply of the actuator comes with a 1.8-meter-long wire connection.

Engineering precautions:

Electrical connection:

1. The actuator can only operate under AC voltage (SFA21/18 operates at AC 230V, SFA71/18 operates at AC 24V).

2. For safety and protection reasons, the wiring of the actuator should be done through cable joints.

3. Discontinued phase and pulse width modulation signals are not applicable.

4. Recommended on/off frequency: Approximately 200 days of heating and cooling per year, with about 50 on/off cycles per day

Installation instructions:

Installation instructions 74 319 0407 0 are included in the packaging. AL50 support rings should be installed in advance at valve V ¼ 46 ¼.

Warning: Do not wrap the actuator with insulation material.

Debugging precautions:

Check the wiring.

If installed, please check the functionality of the actuator and auxiliary switch.

Manual adjustment: The valve can be manually opened through the handle on the actuator. When the valve is opened about 90%, the handle locks. When continuing with electric operation, the mechanical locking device will automatically release.

The actuator does not require maintenance.

Warning: The actuator cannot be repaired. When a malfunction occurs, the actuator can be replaced without removing the valve. During this process, the power must be turned off.
