Overview
The forming process of spline shaft is basically divided into milling forming, extrusion forming (including rolling and cold heading), and cold forming. Among them, the cold forming rate is high, materials are saved, the surface smoothness is high, the hardness of the processed tooth surface is high, and the cost of the forming mold (striking wheel) is low, so the development cycle and cost of new products are low. At the same time, cold cutting machine tools can also be used to cold cut and manufacture internal splines, synchronous pulleys, and gearbox hub shells, which have good promotion prospects.

However, due to the relatively high requirements for the manufacturing accuracy and control accuracy of cold forming machines, China conducted relevant experiments in the late 1970s. However, due to control technology and other reasons at that time, there was no market-oriented promotion, while foreign countries have been conducting research and development in this area, especially the Swiss GROB company, which has the most mature technology and has become a benchmark in this field. At present, domestic development in this area is still in its infancy.
Since 2012, our company has collaborated with Xi'an Aoma Special Machine Tool Co., Ltd. to develop the first cold forming machine for spline shafts in China based on relevant foreign technologies and research. After more than 2 years of testing and process analysis, the machine has completed functional verification and has the foundation for market promotion. In the next six months, we will verify the rigidity, strength, accuracy, various specifications of product styles, and long-term reliability of the equipment.
