Working principle: The hardness of water is mainly composed of cations such as calcium (Ca2+) and magnesium (Mg2+) ions. When the raw water containing hardness ions passes through the ion exchange resin layer, the calcium and magnesium ions in the water are replaced by the sodium ions in the resin. The resin adsorbs the calcium and magnesium ions, and the sodium ions enter the water. In this way, the water flowing out of the exchanger is softened water without hardness ions. As the exchange process continues, all Na+ions in the resin are removed and the exchange function is lost. At this time, NaCl solution must be used to regenerate the resin, replacing the Ca2+and Mg2+adsorbed by the resin. The resin re adsorbs sodium ions and restores its softening exchange ability.

1. Equipment selection
The selection of soft water treatment equipment is mainly based on water demand, raw water hardness, and applicable scenarios
1) There are multiple models of equipment with the same water output, which can be selected according to the actual water usage situation.
2) Raw water hardness: When the raw water hardness is ≤ 3m · mol/L, the time control type can be selected, measured according to the equipment's high water production rate; When the hardness of the raw water is ≤ 6m · mol/L, the selection can be based on the high water production capacity of the equipment in the table; When the hardness of the raw water is ≤ 8m · mol/L, the selection can be based on the average water production capacity of the equipment; The hardness of raw water is 8-10 m · mol/L, which should be calculated based on the small water production capacity of the equipment, or a multi-stage system should be used; If the hardness of the raw water is ≥ 10m · mol/L, multi-stage treatment must be selected, and generally two-stage treatment can meet the requirements.
3) Water usage scenario: If equipped with a hot water boiler or other similar equipment, the selection can be based on the high water production capacity of the equipment; If water is supplied to a steam boiler, it is generally matched with the equipment's water production capacity at 1.2 times the boiler's evaporation capacity.
