Applicable locations for explosive discs

(1) The working medium inside pressure vessels or pipelines has viscosity or is prone to crystallization and polymerization, which can easily cause the safety valve disc and base to stick or block the safety valve;

(2) The chemical reaction of materials inside the pressure vessel may cause a sudden increase in pressure inside the vessel, and the safety valve cannot be opened in time to release the pressure;

(3) The working medium inside pressure vessels or pipelines is gas or expensive gas, and the use of safety valves may result in environmental pollution and waste due to leakage;

(4) Pressure vessels and pressure pipelines are required to be fully released or fully released at any location;

(5) Other locations that are not suitable for safety valves but are suitable for bursting discs.

Be careful when handling explosive discs, and only touch their edges when moving. Damage to the arched area or sealing surface of the bursting disc may have the opposite effect on its performance. Before installing the bursting disc, please carefully read the content on the label and instructions to ensure that it is suitable for the system.

Check if the bursting disc and clamp are damaged, observe if there are dents, scratches, or bends on their sealing surface, and if there are pits in the arched area. If there is damage, they cannot be installed and used.

The explosive disc device is a disposable safety protection device (also known as a non self resetting safety protection device). When the bursting disc bursts, the system or container needs to be stopped immediately for replacement, otherwise the pressure and medium inside the system will continue to leak out. Unlike safety valves, which can automatically reset after relieving system pressure.

When there may be material adhesion or solid precipitation on the population side of the explosive disc safety device, the selected type of explosive disc should be suitable for this working condition.

The distance between the blasting disc safety device and the pressure equipment body is no more than 8 times the pipe diameter; The length of the discharge pipeline for the safety device of the explosive disc is no more than 5 times the diameter of the pipe; The nominal diameter of the upstream and downstream connections of the bursting disc safety device shall not be less than the nominal diameter of the discharge port of the bursting disc safety device.

The discharge pipe of the explosive disc safety device should be connected from the device through a large radius elbow, and a drainage hole should be opened at an appropriate position in the discharge pipe to prevent the accumulation of condensate and other substances in the pipe.

When installing the discharge pipeline of the bursting disc safety device, the centerline of the pipeline should be aligned with the centerline of the bursting disc safety device to avoid uneven stress on the bursting disc, which may cause the bursting disc to edge out or change the bursting pressure. If the performance of the discharged materials allows, it is recommended to use a sleeve type discharge pipe, which can eliminate the above-mentioned hazards and collect the condensate, rainwater, etc. in the discharge pipe in a collection tray and lead them into the sewer. When there may be combustible medium discharge in the discharge pipe of the explosive disc safety device, preventive measures such as installing flame arresters should be taken to prevent the risk of fire. When there may be medium toxicity discharge in the discharge pipe of the explosive disc safety device, auxiliary facilities should be installed to remove the toxicity of the medium before discharge. Block valves should generally not be installed in the discharge system of explosive disc safety devices.

The bursting disc safety device should be connected in series on the inlet side of the safety valve:

(1) To avoid the loss of a large amount of process materials or containment media due to the rupture of the blasting disc;

(2) Safety valves cannot be directly used in situations where the medium is corroded or leakage is not allowed;

(3) Transporting extremely toxic, highly hazardous, or highly corrosive media in mobile pressure vessels.
