Overview

Chemical fluorine lined bursting discs are not suitable for environments with frequent overpressure and large temperature fluctuations. Explosive discs are not suitable for environments with frequent overpressure and large temperature fluctuations, as this can reduce the metal strength of the disc and make it easy to release pressure in advance. The pressure in the pressure vessel rises rapidly, and due to the significantly higher hysteresis performance of the safety valve compared to the bursting disc, it is difficult for the safety valve to open and release pressure in a timely manner. In highly corrosive conditions, the material requirements for the use of safety valves are relatively high, and the cost is significantly higher than that of rupture discs. At this time, the release and price of rupture discs are better than using safety valves as safety relief devices.

As a supporting device, clamps and rupture discs are generally required for pressure vessels larger than 1 kilogram when equipped with rupture discs as pressure relief devices. The material of the clamps is usually carbon steel and stainless steel. If corrosive, PTFE clamps can be selected at the inlet and carbon steel or stainless steel clamps at the outlet. When the temperature exceeds 260 ℃, other materials suitable for the working conditions can be considered for the clamps.

Operating conditions of bursting disc:
1. Due to the rapid increase in reaction pressure, the safety valve of the pressure vessel cannot be opened in time, and the high sensitivity of the bursting disc can meet the requirements for pressure relief of the container.
2. The intermediate substance in pressure vessels is prone to crystallization and has a certain viscosity. Using a safety valve can easily cause blockage and fail to meet the pressure relief requirements. In this case, a bursting disc should be selected as the pressure relief device.
3. The medium in the pressure vessel is flammable, explosive, toxic, and highly corrosive. In this case, the cost of selecting a safety valve is high, and the material of the valve core has certain requirements, and the sealing performance may not meet the requirements. In this case, a bursting disc should be selected.

The use and inspection methods of explosive discs

1. When a container medium is corrosive, flammable, or highly toxic and a bursting disc device is installed, the material of the bursting disc and the bursting pressure determined at the time of design should be indicated on the drawing.
2. The connecting pipe between the explosive disc and the container should be a straight pipe with low resistance, and the cross-sectional area of the pipeline channel should not be less than the discharge area of the explosive disc.
3. The discharge pipeline of the explosive disc should be installed as vertically as possible, avoiding spaces that are accessible to adjacent equipment and operators. When the medium is flammable, toxic, or highly toxic, it should be taken to a safe location for proper disposal. The inner diameter of the discharge pipe should not be smaller than the diameter of the bursting disc discharge, and there should be measures to prevent it from being blocked by bursting disc fragments.
4. The explosive disc should be connected to the gas phase space of the container, and the clamping should be firm. The clamping device and sealing gasket surface should not have oil stains, and the clamping bolts should be tightened.
5. During operation, the bursting disc device should be regularly checked for leaks and abnormalities.
6. Blasting discs should be replaced regularly, and the replacement period should be determined by the user unit based on their actual situation. If the bursting pressure exceeds the calibrated bursting pressure of the bursting disc but fails to burst, it should be replaced.

In the process of selecting bursting discs, it is generally necessary to formulate the basic requirements for bursting discs based on the specific objective conditions of their use (pressure, temperature, medium, working conditions, etc.). If there are standardized components that can meet the usage requirements, they can be selected from existing bursting discs. If there are no ready-made bursting discs that meet the requirements, they can be processed reasonably according to the needs, but they must comply with the standards. Reasonably select blasting discs and use and install them according to requirements.
The basic structure of a bursting disc is relatively simple, with various structural forms, mainly divided into flat plate shape, positive arch shape, and reverse arch shape. The discharge diameter is generally between 3mm and 1000mm, the pressure ranges from 0.001mpa to several hundred MPa, and the temperature can range from -250 ℃ to 500 ℃. Various corrosion-resistant materials can be used for anti-corrosion treatment (usually spray coating or PTFE lining), and the viscosity, precipitation, crystallization, and other properties of the medium do not affect the normal operation of the bursting disc. Explosive discs have sensitive temperature requirements, and the operating pressure of all materials of explosive discs will decrease at high temperatures, while the operating pressure will increase at low temperatures. Compared to the large difference between the working pressure and the operating pressure of the safety valve, it is not suitable for situations where overpressure occurs frequently.
