Technical Principle
Ultrasonic waves are sound waves with frequencies higher than 20kHz, which are generally not directly audible to the human ear. Compared with low-frequency sound signals, high-frequency ultrasonic signals have: high frequency, small wavelength, good directionality, and are generally considered to propagate in a straight line; Poor penetration performance, difficult to penetrate obstacles; The attenuation is faster, and the closer to the sound source, the stronger the signal. These features make it easier for ultrasonic leak detectors to locate and locate the location of sound generation, i.e. the sound source.
When a compressed gas system leaks at a certain location, that is, when the gas passes through the leak hole from high pressure to low pressure under the action of pressure, turbulence is formed at the leak location due to the irregular disturbance of gas molecules. Turbulence generates a wide frequency sound wave signal, known as "white noise", which contains strong ultrasonic signals. By utilizing the directional and easy to locate characteristics of ultrasound, as well as its rapid attenuation in air, the stronger the signal directly facing the leak location, and the closer the signal is to the leak location, the stronger the signal. Therefore, the HGC-100 ultrasonic leak detector can quickly and conveniently detect and locate specific leak points.
The HGC-100 ultrasonic leak detector uses an ultrasonic sensor to convert the received ultrasonic signals propagating in the air into audible sound signals through the "heterodyne method", which can be listened to through external headphones or speakers. At the same time, the instrument pointer displays the strength of the ultrasonic signal. The receiving frequency of HGC-100 ultrasonic leak detector is 20KHz to 120kHz (continuously adjustable).
