It can serve as a PROFINET IO controller and standard PROFIBUS DP master in SIMATIC S7-300. The CPU 319F-3 PN/DP can also be used as a distributed intelligent device (DP slave).

Distributed I/O devices with fail safe I/O modules can be connected through three built-in interfaces. The ET 200 M fault-tolerant I/O module can meet safety related applications.

Network automation solutions (or fail safe solutions) can be achieved through the built-in communication options of the CPU without the need for other components.
