One of the main tasks of a hydraulic accumulator is to receive a certain amount of pressurized fluid from the hydraulic system and return it to the system when needed.

When the liquid is pressurized, the treatment of hydraulic accumulator is similar to that of pressure vessel, and it must be designed for its large working overpressure considering the acceptance standards of the installation country or region.

In most hydraulic systems, hydraulic/pneumatic (pneumatic) accumulators with partition elements are used.

The difference between bladder type accumulator, plunger type accumulator, and diaphragm type accumulator lies in the type of separating element.

A hydraulic accumulator is basically composed of a hydraulic oil part, a gas part, and an airtight partition element. The hydraulic oil section is connected to the hydraulic oil circuit. When the pressure increases, the gas is compressed and the liquid enters the hydraulic accumulator. When the pressure drops, the compressed gas expands and discharges the accumulated hydraulic oil into the oil circuit.

Diaphragm accumulator

A diaphragm accumulator consists of a steel pressure resistant container, typically spherical or cylindrical in shape. There are partition elements inside the accumulator, which are thin films made of elastic and flexible materials (elastic materials) with closing buttons and protective plugs. They correspond to Directive 97/23/EC.

Hydraulic oil is almost incompressible, so it cannot store pressure energy. The Rexroth hydraulic/pneumatic accumulator uses the compressibility of gas to store hydraulic oil. Only inert gases can be used. Usually, 4.0 grade 'nitrogen' is used.

In the 'standard version', the Rexroth oil and gas accumulator is suitable for -15+80 ° C.

Installation location

Diaphragm accumulator can be installed in any installation position.

Above the air valve, a 200mm installation space must be provided for testing and charging devices.

Install

When installing an accumulator, ensure safe absorption of possible forces, such as those generated by vibrations or accelerations specific to the application. When using multiple installation points, stress caused by operation, elastic deformation, or temperature expansion should be avoided.

The Rexroth diaphragm accumulator -1X/2X is used to install hydraulic drive systems in fixed mechanical engineering and factory construction.

Diaphragm type energy storage devices must be safely and securely fixed to the machine or system using installation components. Tightening is intended to keep the oil port tension-free. Especially, tension or static or dynamic inertial forces must not be applied to the oil port.

When selecting a suitable installation point, consideration should be given to the thermal expansion of the supporting structure and vibrations from the environment.

The end user of the machine needs to attach the operating instructions RE 50150-B for the machine or system, as well as the CE conformity declaration for containers larger than 1 liter.
