RoHS is a mandatory standard established by EU legislation, mainly used to regulate the material and process standards of electronic and electrical products, with the aim of eliminating six substances including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in electronic and electrical products, and emphasizing that the lead content cannot exceed 0.1%.

The national standard SJ/T 11365-2006 "Testing Methods for Toxic and Hazardous Substances in Electronic Information Products" imposes limitations on the testing methods for hazardous elements required by RoHS. Among them, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) has been developed as a fast and convenient method for rapid screening. The use of X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) can accurately test elements such as lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), bromine (Br), etc.
