1、 Purpose:

Portable pencil scratch testerIt is a mandatory indicator for quality certification in the paint manufacturing and paint application (coating) industry. The pencil scratch method for testing coating hardness has been widely adopted internationally since the 1980s. China has also promoted this testing method in the development research and industrial production of coatings. This instrument is designed and manufactured according to the manual operation method in Article 23 of the national standard "Pencil Test Method for Coating Hardness" GB/T6739-1996. The instrument can be used in the laboratory or on the construction site, and can be used to calibrate the hardness of the coating in any direction

2、 Structure and working principle

The instrument is mechanical, with three-point contact on the tested surface (two points as wheels and one point as lead) to ensure that the pencil forms a 45 ° angle with the tested surface, which is used to push the instrument to complete the testing process.

3、 Usage requirements

GB1279---79, {General preparation method for paint film} Prepare three test pieces, usually smooth tinplate 120 * 50 * (0.20.3) mm, or the substrate size specified separately for the product.

4、 Usage method

1. Preparation; Use a pencil sharpener to sharpen the pencil until the cylindrical lead core is exposed by 5-6MM (do not loosen or damage the lead core). Hold the lead core at a 90 ° angle to the "No: 400" sandpaper surface and keep making circles on the sandpaper until the edge of the lead core is flat and sharp (the edge must not be broken or chipped). After each use, rotate the pencil 180 ° before use, or grind it again before use.

2. Operation: Place the instrument on a flat workbench, place the cushion block at the bottom of the instrument, insert the sharpened pencil into the main body hole of the instrument, and ensure that the edge of the pencil contacts the workbench, then tighten the screw.

Place the instrument on the test board and apply force (the magnitude of which may cause the lead core edge to break or plow the film) to advance at a speed of approximately 1mm per second. Starting from the hardest pencil, plow five 3mm long marks on each level of pencil until the pencil that does not scratch the coating is found. The hardness of this pencil represents the pencil hardness of the coating being measured.
