The PFK-105 ionization test kit is a portable integrated testing system launched by Prostat, consisting of four core components: PFM-711B electrostatic field strength meter, CPM-7200B charging board monitoring device, PCS-730B ± 1 kV charger, and PDT-740B static decay timer. This kit is mainly used to test and evaluate the performance of ionization equipment (such as ion fans/ion rods) in industrial environments, including measuring two key indicators: ion equilibrium voltage (offset voltage) and discharge time.
This kit complies with the ionization standards ANSI/ESD S3.1 (test methods) and ANSI/ESD SP3.3 (periodic validation) of the ESD Association for ionizer balance adjustment and decay time measurement. In addition, it can also be used for measuring the generation and attenuation of body voltage, as well as evaluating the electrostatic properties of ionizers and packaging materials.
PFM-711B is a handheld electrostatic field measuring instrument mainly used for electrostatic investigation and surface polarity measurement of objects. Its core design adopts a stable chopper structure, which can measure in environments with ionized air without drift. The shell of the field strength meter is made of conductive material to provide grounding reference for the measurement circuit. During measurement, the measurement accuracy can be ensured by grounding with a wrist strap or a 10mm snap button on the back.

PDT-740B is an electronic timer specifically designed for measuring the discharge time of ionizers. When used in conjunction with the PFM-711B field strength meter and PCS-730B charger, it can measure the discharge time of the ionizer - decay from ± 1000 V to below 100 V (in accordance with ANSI/ESD S3.1 standards), and further measure the time for the material to decay to below 50 V or below 10 V. There is a cut-off voltage selection switch on the timer panel, and users can choose to stop timing at three voltage thresholds of 10 V, 50 V, and 100 V.
PDT-740B Technical Specifications:
| parameter | specification |
|---|---|
| Optional cut-off voltage values | 10 V、50 V、100 V |
| Stop voltage selection | Select the cut-off voltage through the OFF-ON knob |
| Work Indicator Light | Green LED: ready, charging board voltage ≥ ± 1000 V; Red LED: timing in progress |
| Compatible voltage threshold | Measurement of attenuation time for ≤ 50 V and ≤ 10 V |
The PFK-100H bracket can combine the PFM-711B field strength meter, CPM-72B charging board, and PDT-740B decay timer into a handheld unit, making it easy to simultaneously measure the offset voltage and discharge time of ionization equipment during on-site testing.
According to the requirements of ANSI/ESD SP3.3 standard, ionization equipment needs to be regularly validated to ensure continuous maintenance of appropriate ion balance. The procedure for PFK-105 to perform this test is as follows: Connect the CPM-72B charging board to the PFM-711B field strength meter, place the assembly within the airflow range of the ion fan or ion rod, and read the voltage value displayed on the PFM-711B display screen, which is the current equilibrium voltage (offset voltage) of the ionizer. This value represents the degree of balance between the positive and negative ion outputs of the ionizer.
Discharge time is a key indicator for measuring the electrostatic neutralization ability of an ionizer, which characterizes the time required for the ionizer to drop a charged object from an initial voltage to a termination voltage. The test procedure is as follows: use the PCS-730B charger to charge the CPM-7200B charging board to ± 1000 V; place the charging board within the ionizer airflow range and start the PDT-740B timer at the same time; The timer stops counting from the moment the voltage reaches the selected voltage threshold (100 V, 50 V, or 10 V) and directly displays the decay time. This method complies with the specifications of ANSI/ESD S3.1 standard.
