MD5KVR can measure insulation resistance values up to 5 T Ω, and the test voltage can be flexibly selected within the range of 50 V to 5 kV. It provides four pre selected voltages (500 V, 1 kV, 2.5 kV, 5 kV), as well as fine settings in 25 V or 500 V steps, making it easy to conduct targeted testing on low-voltage and high-voltage electrical equipment. Supporting Step Voltage Test and Ramp Test helps analyze the performance of insulation materials under different voltage stresses.
The MD5KVR is equipped with multiple automated diagnostic functions, which can automatically measure and calculate the Absorption Index and Polarization Index, which are important indicators for evaluating the degree of insulation moisture and aging status. The device also has a dielectric discharge test function, which can be used for diagnosing the degradation of multi-layer insulation structures. The built-in timer supports programming the testing duration, and the timer displays the tested time in real-time (minutes/seconds), making it easy to perform standardized insulation absorption testing procedures. Users can also set the Pass Tail judgment threshold, and the instrument will automatically judge the test results, making it easy to quickly screen for unqualified items.
In addition to insulation resistance, MD5KVR can also simultaneously measure the capacitance and leakage current values of the tested object. Capacitance measurement can be used to evaluate the geometric properties and changes in dielectric properties of insulating materials; Leakage current measurement helps identify local defects on the insulation surface or inside. These parameters, combined with the insulation resistance value, can provide a more comprehensive basis for judging the insulation state.
MD5KVR can be remotely controlled by Android devices with BlueLogg application installed through Bluetooth interface. During on-site testing, technicians can use this application to take photos of the tested equipment, record GPS coordinates, and add voice notes to each measurement for easy traceability and report preparation in the future.
The MD5KVR has a built-in non-volatile memory that can store up to 16000 sets of test results. The instrument is equipped with a thermal printer, which can print test records in real-time at the testing site for easy archiving and handover. The combination of real-time clock and calendar functions with test numbers can assign complete time labels to each measurement, making it convenient to organize data in chronological order. By transferring data to the MegaLog3 analysis software on the PC through the USB interface, graphical analysis can be performed, test reports can be generated, and long-term trends can be analyzed to support the establishment of a predictive maintenance system.
The MD5KVR adopts a lightweight and impact resistant chassis structure, suitable for laboratory and on-site testing environments. The device is powered by a LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) rechargeable battery with a capacity of 12 V/6000 mAh and an expected lifespan of approximately 2000 charge discharge cycles. This battery has a lower self discharge rate than other common battery technologies when not in use, and has good thermal and chemical stability, which helps to improve safety during use. The built-in intelligent charging circuit can charge according to optimized parameters, which helps to extend the battery's lifespan.
