The functions of a proportional relief valve mainly include the following aspects:
1. Constant pressure overflow function: In the quantitative pump throttling regulation system, the quantitative pump provides a constant flow rate. When the system pressure increases, the flow demand decreases. At this point, the overflow valve opens to release excess flow back into the oil tank, ensuring that the inlet pressure of the overflow valve, i.e. the pump outlet pressure, remains constant (the valve port often opens with pressure fluctuations).
2. Voltage stabilization effect: A proportional relief valve is connected in series on the return oil circuit, which generates back pressure and increases the stability of moving parts.
3. System unloading function: Connect a solenoid valve with a small overflow flow rate in series with the remote control port of the proportional overflow valve. When the electromagnetic iron is powered on, the remote control port of the overflow valve is connected to the oil tank, and the hydraulic pump is unloaded. The overflow valve is now used as an unloading valve.
4. Safety protection function: When the hydraulic system is working normally, the valve is closed. Only when the load exceeds the specified limit (system pressure exceeds the set pressure), the overflow valve is opened for overload protection to prevent the system pressure from rising (usually the set pressure of the overflow valve is 10% to 20% higher than the system working pressure).
In practical applications, it is generally used as an unloading valve, remote pressure regulating valve, high and low pressure multi-stage control valve, and sequence valve to generate back pressure (connected in series on the return oil circuit).
There are generally two types of structures for overflow valves: 1. Direct acting overflow valves. 2. Pilot operated relief valve.
The main requirements of an overflow valve are: large pressure regulation range, small pressure deviation, small pressure swing, sensitive action, high overload capacity, and low noise.
