The Dencytee sensor measures the total cell density in a solution online. Based on the principle of optical density detection, Dencytee measures changes in turbidity in cell suspensions. Using near-infrared light that is insensitive to changes in the color of the medium for detection. All particles that can weaken 880nm near-infrared light, including live cells, dead cells, and cell debris, will be detected. This detection method is effective and accurate during the stage where the number of cells increases rapidly after inoculation but the cell density is low.

working principle

The Dencytee sensor emits a beam of near-infrared light that passes through a 5mm window and reaches the detector. The cells in the suspension will absorb or scatter this beam of light, causing the detector to read a different light intensity than when it was emitted. The unique feature of Dencytee is that the sensor increases the emitted light intensity to compensate for the light absorbed or scattered by the cells, thereby maintaining the light intensity reaching the detector at a constant value. This way, Dencytee can be applied to high-density cell culture monitoring.
