Incyte SU disposable cell density electrode
Accurately analyzing the characteristics of living cells is crucial in biological processes. Because only living and healthy cells can produce the required products. Nowadays, these data are obtained through manually intensive offline sampling.
Online measurement of cell numbers can provide a deeper understanding of biological processes, enable stable process control, quickly optimize processes, and reduce the risks associated with sampling. Hamilton specifically designed Incyte SU sensors for online monitoring of cell concentration in mammalian cell culture, yeast, and high-density bacterial fermentation processes.
This sensor is based on the measurement principle of dielectric constant. The behavior of living cells is like small capacitors, which are constantly charged and discharged by an alternating electric field and measured in real time. This signal is linearly correlated with the density of live cells. This method is insensitive to cell debris because only living cells can polarize.
The measurement unit consists of sensor elements (Incyte-P SU) and electronic elements (Arc Module Incyte-P SU), with the Arc Module converting analog signals into stable digital signals.
