1. Host animals and sources of infection
Fruit bats are natural hosts of Nipah virus, mainly distributed in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australia. Fruit bats are also distributed in regions such as Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, and Hainan in China.
The main intermediate host of Nipah virus is pigs, in addition to animals such as horses, sheep, cats, and dogs.
The main sources of human infection with Nipah virus disease are animals and humans infected with the virus.
2. Transmission routes
Direct contact with virus-infected animals (such as bats, pigs, horses, etc.) or their bodily fluids (such as blood, urine, saliva, etc.).
Consuming food contaminated with the body fluids, secretions, or excreta of virus-infected animals (such as fruits contaminated with fruit bats).
Close contact with infected patients or their bodily fluids (including nasopharyngeal secretions, urine, or blood, etc.). The transmission of Nipah virus among patients mainly occurs in their families and medical institutions.
3. Population susceptibility
People are generally susceptible to Nipah virus.
4. Popular regions
The Nipah virus disease epidemic mainly occurs in South and Southeast Asian countries.
5. Seasonality
The Nipah virus disease epidemic mainly occurs from December to May of the following year.
NiParvovirus nucleic acid detection kit (fluorescent PCR method)
Sample types: blood, cerebrospinal fluid, urine, fecal/anal swabs, virus cultures
1. Expected use
This reagent uses the highly conserved basis of NiV to detect target genes, and is used for qualitative detection of NiV RNA in samples such as blood, cerebrospinal fluid, urine, fecal/anal swabs, virus cultures, as well as auxiliary diagnosis and epidemiological monitoring of the pathogen's infection.
2. Product features
Sensitivity detection limit of 200 copies/mL
High specificity with no cross reactivity to pathogens other than Nipah virus
The Ct value of the precision reference sample for high repeatability detection is ≤ 5%
