Product Details

The X-ray/industrial CT inspection system is used to measure the complex internal structure of products and detect all internal faults without disassembling the product at any step. Nikon's high-precision non-destructive inspection system provides technical support for manufacturers.
The system generates 2D images by capturing X-rays projected through the sample. By rotating the sample and continuously capturing images, and then processing them with a computer, 3D CT (computed tomography) images can be generated.
With the images generated by the Nikon system, non-destructive inspections can be performed on various products such as electronic components, plastic molds, and cast metals. This system is not only used in manufacturing and inspection processes, but also in academic research fields such as mineral search, fossil excavation, and archaeological surveys.

Principles of X-ray Imaging

The world's first 450kV microfocus X-ray source

The industrial CT inspection system generates X-rays by aiming hot electrons at a metal target.
Generally speaking, the intensity of X-rays can be increased by increasing the voltage of the hot electron generating test tube to penetrate thicker samples. However, this will result in a larger "focal size" (the size of the gathering point of hot electrons on the target object), thereby reducing the clarity of the generated X-ray image.
Nikon has successfully developed a 450kV microfocus X-ray source that generates high-definition images while maintaining high voltage, achieving accurate detection of high-density samples that were previously difficult to achieve. The 450kV microfocus X-ray source can now effectively identify large cast metals and single crystal alloy turbine blades.
